Building my first interactive tool without a dev background (quiz for a niche content site)

I run a small content site called Crabguide, and for a while now I have wanted to add a simple interactive quiz to another section of the site (helping readers figure out shell size/type for their hermit crab).

I went back and forth a lot: tried learning basic JS, looked at building it as a separate Webflow page, and eventually just embedded a Typeform quiz into the existing WordPress page instead. It was not the “proper developer” route, but it got something working fast, and I learned a decent amount about embeds and page speed tradeoffs along the way.

Curious if others here started similarly, picking the fastest working solution over the “correct” one when first adding interactivity to a non-technical site. What was your first hacky-but-working feature?
