Community storytelling and member growth
Hey all!
I have this thought in mind that we should all come together as a community to celebrate the end of the year.
I am planning on doing this yearly under the DEVenger org, but I don’t have any ideas as of now. We can do something like “the DEV community built this” or something.
If you have any ideas on what the dev.to community should do, let me know!

We could try and start highlighting community stories. How dev.to allowed individuals to create orgs just like The DEVengers. Then we can complement it with first time experiences for each DEVengers member on the platform. Next, stories on how they joined the org. Finally how they are progressing and achievements so far in dev.to (whether they are in posts, collaborations, or any other career progressing stuff).
It’s like we are giving a spotlight on how dev.to allows individuals to be part of something bigger than themselves.

I was thinking about it a while back where each DEVenger member introduce themselves. This could work. I am curious on the structure of it. By that, I mean do we make a thread and everyone share their stories under that thread (Like the Welcome Thread but for this purpose?).

That’s a good way to gather data without any pressure. Just collect all the entries in the end. About the structure, it’s a little bit all over the place, we can always refine it as we go.

Fun idea! 😊 A few thoughts —
What about a “Build in Public” retrospective thread, where people share one project from the year alongside the prompt/idea/first commit that started it, next to the final result? Feels like a nice way to show the journey, not just the finished thing.
Also love Elmar’s spotlight idea—maybe pairing that with a lighthearted “badges I earned this year” roundup could work too? Low effort to join in, but still fun to see how different everyone’s year looked. Excited to see where this goes!

What about a “DEV Wrapped 2026” community event?
Everyone shares:
- Their favorite post they wrote
- Something they learned this year
- A project they shipped
- A mistake that taught them something
- One goal for next year
It would work for beginners and experienced developers, and it focuses on growth rather than just achievements.
I think you’d get a lot more participation than a coding challenge because everyone has a story to share.
