I Stopped Asking "what will say"

I grew up hearing it every day:
“What will people say?”
“Don’t you feel ashamed?”
“You’ll ruin the family honor”

So I stayed quiet.
I wore what they approved.
I became who they wanted.
And I was alone in his house, in her world.

Last night I posted my truth on DEV.
I was terrified. “What will people say?”

Then commented:
“You are not alone, we are all with you”
other comment:
“Yes we are here for you”.
And it hit me:
People are not happy anyway.
So why live in fear of their words?
