We got to work and planned the specs for the next coding agent. We didn’t want to change Mecha, being the simplest agent that worked it should remain that way for posterity. Testament of the simplicity and curiosity that should guide every programmer in their lives. This time Mecha helped us build her own replacement.

So Katto, our new agent [1], would improve memory management, take user notes, and include more tools for web fetching, database management and git control, besides file tools.
If Mecha could build an app from scratch in minutes, I had to spend some time creating the database and the data schema, adding dummy data and run tests, then commit to git. With Katto, the agent would do it all for me, absolutely everything. While I spend time making coffee and thinking on more apps to do.
Now the issue is not about knowledge, it’s about time. Before we could do a couple of apps per year, now we can do hundreds. I’ve done more than a dozen fully fledged installed apps in the last month, plus a couple dozen mini games I play while bored or just to test how good DeepSeek is, she has never let me down. I never doubted her.
We need more time to build stuff, or we need more agents and orchestrate them, wait… can DeepSeek?
