I have seen loads of videos about game engines and how great each one is but each one has their own code language they specifically use. The main 2 I’m looking at is game maker and godot but does anyone have any other recommendations?

I think the choice of the engine depends on the project that you are working on. You should be able to write down the requirements for the project and then work through the list of engines to see which ones satisfy the most requirements.
